The museum was amazing. Worth every cent of the €14. Stayed almost 3 hours.

Quick note: the technology in this thing is amazing. In particular the HUD with speed limit and navigation is the best I’ve ever used and makes driving around an unfamiliar place incredibly easy.

Just returned the car. We didn’t explore as much as We originally planned because we spent a long time at Louwman and dinner, but we did go 180 km. We left the motorway at one point and just drove whatever direction looked interesting. Went over a really cool looking modern bridge. Had dinner outside at a small Italian place in Sassenheim. Had this fillet on stuffed pasta with Gorgonzola sauce, potatoes, peppers, and walnuts. It was fantastic for just €22. Two teenagers pulled up in a turbocharged NA Miata while we were there that was quite nice and then a Maserati 4200GT rolled past. I’ve really enjoyed my week here. I hope to come back again for a proper holiday when I can really explore rather than fitting it around business.

Sounds like you’ve had a great time!
When you eventually come back for a holiday, you really need to check out the south of the country too. I know you wouldn’t expect any difference due to the relatively short distance, but instead of the “polders” of the north, the east and south are way more forested. There are even some small sand dunes within some of the forests, which were caused by cattle eating the vegetation until the 1800s. One of the larger ones looks like this:
Next to the slightly different landscape, the people of the south are also quite different. They tend to be a bit less curt than the Hollanders(People living in the north-west of the country), though that’s just my opinion as a Brabander(one of the southern provinces).
